SPAM Magazine

A warm Brighton welcome to the newly penned SPAM magazine! So what’s there for us to expect from a toasty spam? Are we gonna have the after taste of cheap processed meat or something more succulent like duck? We’re happy to say that the duck is succulent, served with dumplings, sauerkraut and a healthy portion of red cabbage! The first issue, “the delinquent”, was released a couple of weeks ago and is now circulating all pubs, bars and coffee tables from the North lanes to Milan. It’s nice to see something new to mull over when waiting for a mate for after work drinks. No one wants to sit in a bar alone – save a bit of dignity with reading, fag, drink and a sour look to any passers by.

SPAM offering its readers an insight into Brighton while stretching the standards offered by the current group of “read our ads” entertainment. From the outset you have a good idea of what’s in store. The editors (Will Power) narrative introduces the concept with ideas of bukkake parties, crack and general law breaking. And to be frank, what more do we want from life ey. Why settle for a magazine which reads like a slut and forces centre page honey club wank into our lives? I know the honey club is there, I don’t really go there, and frankly your advertising puts me off making the effort. Luckily with SPAM you can escape the morbid attempts by Brighton’s lesser venues. Even tough clubs like Audio don’t seem to have cottoned on to the advertisement benefits but then again does the Audio need any more advertisement? Fuck no! It’s great, as the advertising goes you are not overwhelmed and what is featured is more inline with the outset. SPAM has more of a likeness to Vice magazine then the current town mags in print. They pick a topic and work the articles into the field using Brighton as an outline.

The first issue has given us articles on drugs, chav’s and general bad behaviour of the sort. It’s nice to read something brash, witty and set in its way. Not trying to sound like a Nathan Barley (RAPE issue) joke but “If you are offended then don’t read”. However if your prepared to laugh and enjoy something informative, current and in touch with a scene that’s unknown to all things sourced out and juicy then open and enjoy.

This mag and the people involved are filth and should be appreciated for trying to do something new in a bored and culturally deflated market. Suck my balls and call me batman!
