Good morning Brighton.
It’s a Friday and last night we managed to take some timeout to check out the newly rebuilt honey club. We had spoken to a promoter and been granted right to come down and have a look at the changes to the place – great. We planned ahead and thought lets just make a quick visit down, drink a drink, dance a little and head home. Now I will be the first to admit that the Honey club is not our usual cup of tea, well maybe that’s an understatement, we don’t even drink tea. Digressing; the club looks good, it’s nice to see the DJ box moved to a more prevalent position on the dance floor and as usual the sound system was working its usual tricks. As we moved amongst the kids on the dance floor we bumped a little (tad painful) while Dulci Danger (look-a-like?) played some usual un-inspired bibble to the crowds bellow.
Sadly something went a little pare-shaped; the security within had a few problems. While standing on the dance floor gazing at the chandeliers a built-like-a-shit-house bouncer, Steve, grabbed me harshly by the neck, took my drink and kicked me out the door. So that’s it, I’m standing outside in the fucking cold alone. Informed I would not be allowed in again because the bouncers controlling inside have a higher level of control then the henchmen outside. Just stunning guys – pure class. But what was my crime I hear you gasp. I was wearing a cap! And before you start visualising a headpiece aimed 45 degrees in to the air and a ruffian-style composure. Not such. I am a week gimp of a man who could not fight off a cat if it wanted a piece of me. Not drunk, just standing, not causing trouble – kicked out.
Not going to the honey club for a long, long time now I had brief flashbacks to incidents of the beach front security teams. Hearing the old Zap bouncers boast about how they wanted to kick the shit out of people and just the hostile approach they see fit to use. Things have not really changed I’m afraid.
The question is this. Why is it that venues such as the Concorde, Audio and such have a free open policy? The answer is that the people they expect are on a different branch. It’s all down to clientele. Sadly I was mixed in to a situation where social class hit us hard. If you build a club and want to fill it with pricks then go ahead but since when has a head piece triggered such commotion. Do people have to leave turbans in the cloak rooms? Should I take my shoes off when entering, and girls don’t forget no skirts allowed. Guys, this is not a fucking mosque – It’s the honey club.
For a venue that has been voted 14th best club in the world this should not be the case. And 14th best club? Remember the people who voted are British and the only holiday they have probably ever had was to Blackpool. As I stood outside the “14th best club in the world” I was left without my money, coat and no way to talk to people inside. Imagine if this situation had happened to a girl, left outside with nothing. It’s a matter of public safety to make sure clubbers are okay and well, frankly you beef-shit’s could not give a care in the world.
Stop caring about being butch and all powerful and take a leaf from the successful clubs around you.

If you could email me about the door man I would be most great full.

Are you honestly saying that you were ejected for nothing more than wearing a hat? The policy on basball caps is to ask the person to take it off but that wouldn’t get you ejected unless you refused to remove it.
Loads of people wear hats, they don’t get ejected so there must be something you have forgot to mention. For a review on the Honeyclub you sure do mention Audio a lot are you sure you don’t work for them? Audio does have a good set of doormen but no better than anywhere else, what are they superhuman or a different species?

So what you saying is that they asked you to take you cap off and then you put it back on and woundered y u got kicked out!!! I go to the honey a lot and i’ve have never seen any one get draged out in a headlock for wearing a cap…sure you not just talking out of your ass!!!!

I agree the Honey is shit. That best club bollocks was apparently voted for by DJ’s. Now of course DJ’s are going to say it’s one of their favourite clubs when the promoters are paying them stupid amounts of money. Rumour has it Roger Sanchez picked up £20000 for a 2hr set friday night. I was flyering outside the honey that night and saw him leave… time 3:05. Where did he go? His hotel room. Not such a great club that he wants to hang around for a bit, listen to the residents and have a beer. In comparison, last week at Stompaphunk, Nic Fanciulli rocked audio to its core, before hanging around the bar and chatting away to clubbers.

marek: So its not your cup of tea and you prefer the concorde and Audio we get that. Becuase you were reviewing the club you obviously thought you were special and didn’t need to take your basball cap off when requested. You would have been told on entry and you would have been reminded once inside after ignoring that you willingly entered as an equal partner in an abusive situation which culminated in your removal from the venue.. No doubt this comment will never make your site cos its biased but you should also know that its obviously ill informed too cos the votes weren’t from english people. You didn’t like the place, you ignored the security staff’s instruction to get thrown out and then stood outside like lemon becuase you misjudged the situation. They would have also asked you to leave under your own steam cos like anyone else they prefer not to get into a tussel with someone who is willing to just walk out.

Mark, you failed to say that you were with three beautiful girls that night? Didn’t Elliot and yourself both get lucky?

Comment not make the site? Asked to leave under own steam? Misjudged the situation? lemon?
… did you not read the above article.
Who cares anyway, it’s the honey club.
