Can you master the Art of Hope?

Barak Obama’s moving in date is just around the corner and having captured a global audience with his indelible words “change can happen” there is an air of hope all over the world. The beautiful thing about Art is not just its subjectivity, but the way it independently depicts life. So can you paint it? [...]

Boy 8-Bit back in Brighton with Fake Blood @ Digital

[ March 14, 2009; 10:00 pm; ] Mid-January is upon us. You’re broke and broken. Yawning through family togetherness, followed by dulling the senses with mates out drinks and parties and then a near spiritual vacuum at the realisation that it all cost more than you were expecting. Paul Woolford @ The Concorde

[ February 20, 2009 11:00 pm to February 21, 2009 4:00 am. ] Event promotion is a tough game, and the pain is felt even more during an economic downturn. The organisers say it’s the format which makes it different: “24 DJs playing, all doing back to back sets of 30 minutes each, and all playing music you normally wouldn’t associate with their particular nights.”

I don’t think I’ve been to the Jazz Place for nearly 10 years but this may just get me back through the doors. In February they’ve booked a DJ set from a key player in the UK’s early Electrofunk scene – Greg Wilson. He was last booked to play in Brighton by the Broadcast Loft [...]
