artrepublic announce the winner of the Art of Hope competition

Art of Hope

Art of Hope

Wednesday night saw the unveiling of the artrepublic winner of the Art of Hope competition, Archi Ram, with his witty entry of Bob Hope on a ten pound note. He was one of three finalists including Jimi Jugio and Toad who were whittled down from over 120 entries via social media platform Flickr, a massive success and great quality entries that made choosing the winner a testing task by local, established artists Hutch and Graham Carter. Archi’s work will now be sold at artrepublic’s Brighton and Soho galleries, displayed alongside works by such stars of the UK art scene as Sir Peter Blake, Banksy, D*Face and Jamie Hewlett., as well as online.

Brighton is quite the hub of activity for artists, musicians, poets that know it etc etc so this was a great opportunity for artrepublic to get involved in the community and harness the growing trends of social media to launch a campaign of this nature with the help of Matthew Crick and Catherine Pryce of Digital Marketing Agency Leapfrogg.

We were delighted with the high standard of entries to the Art of Hope competition, received from throughout the UK. The final choice made by two of our most popular artists is an outstanding piece of work.

says Andrew Milledge, Marketing Director at artrepublic.

Ten ultra rare Artists Proofs of the winning print (named ‘Art of Hope’ by the artist Archi Ram) were produced for the night and guests eagerly snapped many of them up, leaving only a few available.

artrepublic are reinforcing their commitment to the local art scene too. This year, they will be a key sponsor of Visual Arts within the 2009 Brighton Festival Fringe, which will again help support the plethora of fine talent in the area.

It’s going to be a busy 2009 for artrepublic, exhibiting talented new artists, such as new US import Mr Brainwash and fresh works from many of the world’s most collectable artists, whilst looking forward to the next competition at the end of the year!
