Hospitality nights – the evil love child of oh-so-smart drum n bass label Hospital Records and Filthy Media, paired with Hush Ya Beak – are hitting Brighton’s spring-tinged d’n'b fiends not just once, but twice this spring - they’re storming Audio this Friday, then they’re smashing Digital on May Bank Holiday (more details to follow).
Friday sees the Hospitality debut of D:Bridge (who is normally known as part of Bad Company and Exit Records boss), who’ll be holding the walls down alongside regulars NU:TONE, Danny Byrd, SCIPHI, while MC Wrec, MC Rage, and MC I.D get everyone up til the early hours.
I’ve got a lot of time for Hospitality, which as a night and as a label, both always try to differentiate themselves as a higher quality d’n'b outfit. I used to think d’n'b would die like a beautiful dying exotic breed years ago, but with producers continuing to push the boundaries, and with clubbers still having a thirst for the continued experimentation in a now older genre, I see that in Brighton and many places, this genre will probably carry on strong.
And as a night, I image you’re well safe from knifings and police being called out. Everyone wins.
They say:
Mr D Bridge brings his trade mark ‘aggressively beautiful’ sound to the Hospital operating table. Trust me when we say this will be an education in the most upfront D&B around at the moment!
In the passenger seat our good friend Dan Nu:Tone is back with a fresh box of music. With a recent remix of the massive hit ‘Feeling’s by Shy FX under his belt Dan has been working hard in the studio. A welcome return to a Brighton favourite.
To end off the night the ‘Byrd Man’ aka Danny Byrd is back to bring the rukus. Getting radio plays from Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Zane Lowe this man is everywhere at the moment.
Microphone bandits Wrec, Rage and I.D take care of vocal duties and with Sciphi warming up the decks its going to be a night to put in the diary now.
