Amazing to find this article,i knew darren when i lived in brighton 87-97,a top dude and positive sound system n king tafari held the best parties,n great vibes,awesome,memorable and probably the best times of my life at these events!
I was a bit of a raggamuffin” n rogue back then n i would not change a thing! now with missus,kid ect still a “loveable rogue”
I remember top nites at,the asylum.sainsburys,black rock,marine parade,rottingdean beach,hove opp the “cliftonville, n many more!
Darren is a top,peaceful,n decent dude and my times in my 20″s in the 90″S were all the more better for what he,king tafari,clarky”,ashley,and many others in the free party scene did back then,thanks guys! i still av tunes from back then which raise the hairs on my neck n give me that pilled up grin”

Rave killed off Reggae blues partys because all the of drug abuse… and I dont mean just having a smoke. Spoiled it for us reggae blues lovers big time..they very rarely got any police trouble until rave came along & there was 3 long running shebeens in Brighton & Hove in the 80’s..one in Marine parade, next one was in Second Ave & last one was in Little Preston St…Sorry to say it, but the birth of rave was the death of Reggae blues parties…

my first party rave was at glastonbury festival in the “travellers field” in 1989 wich was a totally nuisance for us. The music was constant and we were not use to this! Loud, head banging sounds infaded our peace and quiet “live music” soul. Not a good experience but threw the years, i slowly got involved more and more. But if i was going to organise a Party my menu will be “live bands”, artistic show like a play and a good “sound system”…..

Bring back the oldskool days of the early rave scene when you had to wait last minute for the information of where you are going to, you follow the directions and the anticipation builds as you eventually find an unmarked building, a peep hole…d door opens which leads into an old dark room filled with an ‘avin it party crowd giving it stacks to pumping beats. =)

I know – WTF? We’d heard that the police had fenced it off so we went down there to check it out with our own eyes.

Indeed it was like a war zone – they’d fenced off the entire road and had police manning a doorway, stopping people and cars and arresting people who tried to go past. Pretty draconian!

Is it because the Conservatives are in power that they are taking these needless drastic measures? Is it really that much a nuisance, when partying is happening all round the city anyways?Or is anti-chav? Answers on a postcard, please.

cause when there are too much crowd it can create riot or anything could when there are so much fun that is happening when the party begun.
