Another new night for Brighton, and another new press release for you to feast your eyes over:

From June onwards DONKY PITCH will be bringing the finest of a new crop of forward thinking producers to the clubs of Brighton. With more splinter groups than a barrel of beavers this explosive scene is rooted in Hip Hop while taking cues from the Dubstep community in Bristol and London. Leading the UK charge are Glasgow’s Lucky Me collective forging transatlantic alliances with Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder crew from LA. And while the industry attempts to ‘genrify’ the burgeoning scene with hotly debated labels – Glitch, Wonk, Laser Bass, Crunk, Wonky, Purple Funk, Glitch-Hop, Skweee, Purple Wow, Wonk-Hop, Experimental and or Instrumental Hip Hop, Dubstep 2.0, Electronica – DONKY PITCH is concentrating on playing the finest sounds to have resonated muso ear drums in years.
For the unmissable launch we’ve carefully selected three outstanding beatmakers who will give you an addictive introduction to DONKY PITCH.

GEMMY
(Planet Mu / Punch Drunk Records)
http://www.myspace.com/djgemmy
Alongside JOKER (Kapsize / Hyperdub) and GUIDO (Punch Drunk) GEMMY makes up Bristol’s now infamous Purple Trinity. Forging unfathomably irresistible links between sub-low bass frequencies and early 90’s G-Funk his first 12″ dropped last year on PEVERELIST’s Punch Drunk Records. The A Side, Bk 2 The Future, sent platter-shattering-synth-driven-bass-quakes reverberating through the Dubstep community. He has another 12″ (the crunk-juiced Supligen) and an album forthcoming on Planet Mu Recordings (STARKEY, JAMIE VEX’D, MILANESE, BOXCUTTER). Is it Dubstep? Is it Hip Hop? Who knows? In all honesty, who cares? He calls it Purple Wow. We call it some of the most forward thinking, blazing electronics we’ve heard since time began.

SLUGABED
(Stuff Records / Ramp Recordings)
http://www.myspace.com/slugabedmusic
SLUGABED is a 20-year-old Bath-based beat machine. His debut 12″ dropped on Glasgow’s Stuff Records (RUSTIE) a few weeks ago, a limited white label taster featuring refixes of Rick James and Ol Dirty Bastard. Sluga tracks have already found their way into the boxes of MARY ANNE HOBBS, MARK PRITCHARD aka HARMONIC 313, BENJI B (One Extra) and VARIOUS PRODUCTION. His second plate has found its way into Ramp Recordings (ZOMBY,FLYING LOTUS, COMPUTER JAY) release schedule. The only way to fully comprehend exactly what this man does is by clicking on the below link. Donky Pitch advise you turn it up loud and hold on to your bottom jaw.

http://www.myspace.com/rekorder87
Born in Bristol, based in London, Rekordah makes glitched-out hip hop beats of magnificent proportions. He also co-runs Bristol-based night / record label Pollen with EFA. They’ve played host to many of the best beatsmiths from this disparate scene, with the likes of MIKE SLOTT, METSKE, BULLION, SLUGABED, LONE and LUKID gracing their nights. This man’s got taste. As a label they’ve just put out their debut 12″, with a 7″ of his own forthcoming. Rekordah completes our triple-fantastic line-up.
