[ July 24, 2009 10:00 pm to July 25, 2009 4:00 am. ] Hi everyone, please support this night. The fundraisers are trying to raise £5,000 pounds entirely through club and music nights, all of which goes to Cancer Research. So far they’ve raised £3,200. For this night, they’re taking over all of Audio, with 42 DJs back to back – 10pm to 4am, all for £5 donation on the door. It’s a mad feat to get this many egos and personalities together and will be an even more impressive music-crammed night to get through. Should be a hell of a ride!

Throw Some Shapes: Interpretations @ Jazz Place, Friday
[ July 24, 2009 10:00 pm to July 25, 2009 2:00 am. ] Throw Some Shapes headlines Bullion, a West London hip hop producer who I can only compare to a UK version of DJ Shadow in terms of mind-altering productions at a slightly downtempo pace and who’s ego must be massive with the number of fans he’s won over, including Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs and Zane Low, Busy P, and Goldie. With gigs like Sonar, Glastonbury and Big Chill, this intimate Brighton one should be gentle mid-summer treat.

Testing Grounds @ Permanent Gallery, Saturday 18 July
[ July 18, 2009; 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ] If you’re one of those people that thought performance art was what hippies did instead of tv, it’s time to step out of the antiquated 1970s inspired perceptions and come experience an experimental art laboratory that is gaining respect and attention beyond the small comforts of a small gallery space off Western Road.
The Arc reopening as Life
As well as major redesign of the interior, LIFE is now installed with a pumping soundsystem made by German engineers D&B, with a state of the art LED lighting system supplied by the same company that fitted legendary London club The End. And as you’d expect, we’re working with some of the best promoters in town to make the most of the space.

Radio Reverb show, Writers’ Hub – July 2009
Writer Tara Gould joined me in the studio for this month’s edition of Writers’ Hub. We chatted about her night Short Fuse, which is currently looking for readers, for Brighton and for Hastings events, and her new literary ambitions: a first novel. We discussed some upcoming opportunities for writers, via New Writing South and Myriad Editions, and we also presented the writing for this month’s theme: seaside and seaside towns.
John Grade – The Elephant Bed
Inspired by coccolithophores (microscopic algae), American sculptor John Grade has created The Elephant Bed. An immense installation, it’s showing exclusively at the Fabrica Gallery, which was set up back in 1996 at the deconsecrated Holy Trinity church, by a group of artists from Red Herring studios. This is Grade’s first UK exhibition and Fabrica’s focus for the summer, so go forth and marvel, it starts today.
