The Blind Tiger Club – the Speakeasy is back for one weekend

speakeasy_main

We can officially confirm that the Speakeasy will be back in Brighton next month. We last had the pleasure of attending during the Brighton Fringe season, of which they won ‘Most Groundbreaking Show’. Now they are back for one weekend only.

What made the last event such a huge success was the anything goes attitude – the feeling that you weren’t taking part in something legit and on the radar. Dark rooms filled with casual gambling, drinking, dancing and smoking had such an appeal we succumbed to temptation on a number of occasions. Let’s hope that now in a new currently unknown venue things are still along the same lines. The new, still secret, venue is split across 3 floors and the organisers promise it has been transformed into a real backstage speakeasy.

Loose talk, bad habits, gin drinking, burbon sipping, highballs and lowlifes, an all night bar, and a few games of chance and skill, match girls and cocktails, table service, flaring, blackjack, poker, chorus girls and a very generous décor budget.

Acts include The Correspondents, Fat 45, The Panhandlers, Derriere, Los Albertos and loads more to be announced.

Expect live and recorded music from yesteryear. Jazz, gypsy, Balkan and soulful songs from Fats Waller to Billie Holiday and beyond, burlesque performances, feathers, frills and all brought to you totally unofficially by Playgroup!

Tickets: www.theblindtigerclub.com also available from Resident and Rounder records.

£5 / 12 adv tickets
