artrepublic announce the winner of the Art of Hope competition

Wednesday night saw the unveiling of the artrepublic winner of the Art of Hope competition, Archi Ram, with his witty entry of Bob Hope on a ten pound note. He was one of three finalists including Jimi Jugio and Toad who were whittled down from over 120 entries via social media platform Flickr, a massive success and great quality entries that made choosing the winner a testing task by local, established artists Hutch and Graham Carter.

Brighton Tattoo Convention

Brighton Race Course found itself with a very diverse bar full of attendees on Saturday and Sunday as an abundance of ink covered guys and dolls descended on the city for this annual event. The tattoo convention features:
170 of the best artists from the UK and Europe’s finest tattoo studios are joined by guests from [...]

Plump DJs, Zinc and Brighton’s hardcore give 2 fingers to the detox – Concorde 2 16/01/09

Stanton Warriors // Concorde 2

Here are some shots from the Stanton Warriors at the Concorde 2. This night was also the supposed Brighton Fusion x-mas party, about time we had one since our formation in 2004. A great night had by all – ears still feeling the pain. The bellow is an article which Fusion’s Amy Riley did for Trash Menagerie.

Doll and the Kicks // The Providence Pub

Doll and the Kicks: the lead singer is as cute as a doll, and the band certainly kick ass, enough so to take away from the fact that we were in the Providence – one of the few true dives left in Brighton. O yes sticky carpets to boot.
Doll and the [...]

Peter Hook & Bez // Stone Love // Digital

A strange night: we had just come from the Flawless Kicks store opening and going home seemed premature. Fancying a change, we decided to pass Digital for something different – Bez, the dancer from the Happy Mondays and Peter Hook the bassist from Joy Division / New Order.
I’m not going to say too much about [...]

Jeff Mills // The Ocean Rooms

I left the country to see Jeff Mills once; he never turned up, now finally I got my chance.
“a complete mistake…like George Clinton and Kraftwerk caught in an elevator, with only a sequencer to keep them company.” Is how Derrick May once described Detroit techno. The fusion of genres, technology and experimentation gave birth to [...]

Dave Clarke // The Ocean Rooms

I’ve not written much recently, thinking about it, I’ve not really been out too much at all. Push aside a few special nights, a techno fest in Germany and generic drinks I’ve been a bit of an old man. Since the demise of our regular beloved Stompa Phunk some months back, I’ve had a slightly [...]
