Whitest Boy Alive & special guests Rubies

Even in Brighton, there’s not much going on that can entice me out on a Monday night now I have the Real World to contend with on Tuesday mornings, but German band Whitest Boy Alive, playing one of two UK gigs on their European tour provide an exception to this rule.
In the Eagle for a [...]

The last Stompa Phunk

A sad farewell to Stompa Phunk. The Brighton institution runs its last night after 10 years of constant quality.

A night that will be greatly missed.

Hotchip // Corn Exchange

After almost killing Hot Chip’s latest album Made in the Dark by playing dangerously too much (as previously done with their previous releases), I was very much looking forward to seeing the band perform their live at the Brighton Corn Exchange.
On entrance, we faced St John Ambulance paramedics escorting young face painted new ravers’ outside [...]

Kliks – Ada // Audio

It’s the first Kliks of the year and there’s certainly no better way to kick it off then a visit from Cologne’s melodic lady Ada. Shockingly, It really has been a while since we’ve been down to Audio. Damn busy hibernating over the Christmas period and striding through the most mundane of months January. It may already be February but a lot was hanging on this night to provide a good Audio kick start to 2008.

Andrew Weatherall

Photos from Andrew Weatherall’s DJ set at Brighton’s Audio club.

A great DJ in a fantastic venue.
A visit from Andrew Weatherall is always welcome.

Supercharged: DJ Zinc // Audio

I had stopped going to Supercharged. Or so I thought.
As a regular of the night since it started at the Funky Buddha, I became increasingly unexcited by the Breaks scene, and although Skool of Thought, Krafty Kuts & co are excellent producers, it all got a bit samey. Imagine if you ate your favourite meal [...]

The night
It’s not everyday we find ourselves running from West Street’s “Tru” to the safe ground of the Concorde 2. Yet tonight was different: tonight was the Thursday of Brighton’s first city festival.
The Brighton City Festival is the [...]

Stonelove : Ian Brown // Digital

Over the years I’ve become quite a tough clubber to please, this was possibly one catalyst for the birth of Fusion. When you rigorously trawl yourself from venue to venue, night after night, you start to look at clubs in a slightly different view. A club at the end of the day is there to [...]

Slackers Convention 5th B’day // Concorde2

Slackers Convention 5th Birthday
To protect the innocent (and you know who you are), there are many things I won’t be writing about that I know about the night. But, being the fair person that I am, I’ll tell you the things I’m not going to tell you:
1) Slackers Convention was started in 2002 by Jeremy [...]
