Local indie band Super U may well have a flute but this is no band camp. They need YOU! Or more importantly female dancers this Sunday 29th of March to feature in their new video, if you are available between 10 and 6, drag yourselves out of bed for your 15 minutes of fame. The lads are gorgeous and its an overall really fun and fresh sound, there will be direction, costume, dancing etc and I am sure a chance to hear their new single again and again (and again).

Following on from this and a chance for those of us that are camera shy, “dad” dancers or a combination of both, you can catch them at the Freebutt, supporting Tim and Sam Band on Thursday the 9th of April from 7.30 onwards.

A bit about them:

We like playing music together and travelling around the place. We’ve been together in various guises for about 9 years now, and are way past caring if we ever ‘make it’ or not. At the moment the sum of our ambitions is to finish our debut album ‘We Live in Bazakhstan’, which we are recording in various living rooms and studios here in Brighton with many of our wonderful musical friends.

So, if you feel like dancing get in touch with Matt on the plethora of social media links on their facebook page above… If not see you at the Freebutt!

Brighton singer and songwriter Paul Diello warrants attention for his soulful acoustic performances. Performing live in dimly lit venues, he instantly melts hearts with his voice and sensibilities switched on by a a love of female folk legends such as Suzanne Vega, Martha Wainwright, and Tori Amos.

Paul has been making music all of his life down here on the south coast, until recently with his brother Michael Hoff. Now it’s all about the solo career, performing on keyboard and accompanied by violinist Tessa Gilles, (who is in another Brighton band called The Mummers, Embob on backing vocals and Nigel Ball on guitar/bass.

Paul first took to the stage in local pubs with his brother, performing together in various bands – their first band was called Hessian Drapes, and then later they were invited to join local band, Porcelain.

However, the two brothers decided that they wanted to break away and perform the material they’d been collaborating on since they were kids – and thusly formed a band called Shiseido Red. Shiseido Red began as a rock band, but quickly shifted into an acoustic set that also introduced Gilles on violin. The trio performed at venues such asThe Komedia, Concorde 2, Joogleberry Playhouse and in London, they graced the stages at The Borderline, Camden Barfly and the Troubadour. A highlight for the band was supporting Texas at The Arundel Festival, performing before an audience of over 5,000 people.

The band amicably split up in June 2008. Paul is currently working on his first solo album, which I’m greatly looking forward to hearing. In the meantime, get a taste of these two tracks when he was performing with Shisheido Red, “You Lose” and “Crime Scene”.
