Beachdown Festival Cancelled

So…Beachdown. If you haven’t heard already, Brighton’s fledgling festival was cancelled by its organisers late last night. Reasons cited include slower than forecast ticket sales, lack of support from their bank and suppliers and, of course, what will surely go down in the history books as the most over-used phrase of 2009, the current economic climate.

Kliks @ Beachdown Festival

Kliks – Brighton’s original stripped back techno night will be hosting an event at this year’s Beachdown Festival. Famed for bringing some of the main players of minimal techno to Brighton, they return with another stunning lineup. Started in 2003 by Brighton based journalist Lee Smith, Mark Lerman and Tom Ridsdale their events soon gained a level of notoriousness. Kliks started before the “minimal” media hype and wasn’t led by jumping on to trends.

Beachdown Festival to not allow alcohol purchased off-site

The organizers of Brighton’s Beachdown Festival have announced, via their website, that they will not be allowing alcohol purchased off-site. If you are going then prepare to take a few more pennies with you as this could raise the overall cost of the event by a fair amount. To compare Beachdown to a pub seems like rather strange reasoning – we all know it’s a festival not a pub.

Get down on it – BEACHDOWN 2008

Beachdown 2008 was a rocket-fuelled good time, big names, local bands and plenty of outdoor shenanigans. If only I could remember more about it… Tickets for Beachdown 2009 are still on sale (just about). Call the box office on 01273 666363 or book online.

Laurent Garnier to play Beachdown festival

Often considered one of the worlds best DJ’s, Laurent Garnier has been booked for this year’s Beachdown festival. The event, on the Beachdown website, is currently listed as Laurent Garnier Live. Could Brighton be about to witness Garnier’s eclectic live show. We certainly hope so!
Garnier is due to release his 5th studio album [...]

Doll and the Kicks // The Providence Pub

Doll and the Kicks: the lead singer is as cute as a doll, and the band certainly kick ass, enough so to take away from the fact that we were in the Providence – one of the few true dives left in Brighton. O yes sticky carpets to boot.
Doll and the [...]
