Eventually found the Jazz Place after initially going down the wrong street (does anyone else still have trouble navigating the south lanes?) all the while getting heavily rained on. It’d been a while since that last time I’d been down in the Jazz Place and it was good to be there again as I’ve some fond memories of that cosy basement.

[ July 24, 2009 10:00 pm to July 25, 2009 2:00 am. ] Throw Some Shapes headlines Bullion, a West London hip hop producer who I can only compare to a UK version of DJ Shadow in terms of mind-altering productions at a slightly downtempo pace and who’s ego must be massive with the number of fans he’s won over, including Radio 1’s Mary Anne Hobbs and Zane Low, Busy P, and Goldie. With gigs like Sonar, Glastonbury and Big Chill, this intimate Brighton one should be gentle mid-summer treat.

Leading the UK charge are Glasgow’s Lucky Me collective forging transatlantic alliances with Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder crew from LA.
