There was a time in Brighton when nightclubs were at permanent capacity, thanks in part to the big beat popularity and the city’s reputation as a party town, but underpinning the thriving night scene was the sweaty, pulsating free party scene that took over fields, beaches, mansions, vacant buildings, warehouses, coastal strips and sea archways.

[ February 7, 2009 8:00 pm to February 8, 2009 2:00 am. ] Now here’s something you don’t see everyday – 24 DJs all in one evening. That’s the concept of “Together”, a charity event taking place on the 7th of February 2009. They are hoping to raise at least £1000 for Cancer Research. The organisers say it’s the format which makes it different: “24 DJs playing, all doing back to back sets of 30 minutes each, and all playing music you normally wouldn’t associate with their particular nights.”

I was born 61 days before it started so I can’t remember any of them. I imagine it was the year which included taking my first steps, my first words and my first birthday. I know the last one happened anyway.
